Valley Quiltmakers Guild Interleave Inductees

Welcome New Interleave Inductees from Valley Quiltmakers Guild

This past week, I had the pleasure of visiting the Valley Quiltmakers Guild for two days of quilting fun, starting with a presentation of my Dare to Dye lecture/trunk show. My suitcase was packed with hand dyed fabric samples, as well as quilts made using hand dyed fabrics made by yours truly along with some of my favorite hand dyers. As I was setting up for my presentation, there were two views that made me smile:

  • Bottom Left--A beautiful stained glass window in the corner of the church, that may just inspire a beautiful, modern quilt design!
  • Bottom Right--A recognizable impression left in one of the tables on stage!

There was lots more color and fun to be had the following day in our Intriguing Interleaves workshop!!  Look at this fabulous group of quilters assembling their Interleave quilts!!

More In Progress Interleaves

Lynn earned the distinction of being the first to finish assembling her Interleave quilt, and one of the very few Interleave Inductees to completely finish and bind her project in the workshop!!
Going for the Gold at the End of this Rainbow

There were three different rainbows in progress today, each with a slightly different fabric palette and curve used.  Each was equally stunning!
Rainbows Well Represented!

Of course, there was lots of bright, cheerful fabrics to be seen around the room!

Subtle Yet Sophisticated

Here's a fun tip for getting more value from your stash: Use both sides of the fabric!!  This quilter used the backside of both the magenta and the teal print to incorporate some lighter values into her Interleave quilt!
Beautiful Bonus Value

There were some fun Kaffe prints in the house...

And Fall was in the air with this seasonal selection of autumnal fabrics...
FALLing in Love with InterLEAVES

One quilter drew inspiration from my Dare to Dye lecture and gathered the courage to incorporate some of her gorgeous hand dyes into her Interleave project!

Many thanks to Kathy and her husband for being wonderful hosts, and to the entire Valley Quiltmakers Guild for a fabulous visit!!

  1. It's always a treat to see what your students make. I love how much people can finish in a day. Not only does it give them satisfaction but you know you've left them with the tools to complete their work. Congratulations, Mel and Valley Quiltmakers.
    Love the Fishy interleave.

    1. Thanks Ann--this is why I enjoy teaching Intriguing Interleaves. Everyone makes such great progress in just a 1 day workshop. Quite a few attendees were already planning their next Interleave project which was music to my ears!!
