Slice of Improv at Road to California

Slice of Improv & FUN at Road to California

Day 2 of teaching at Road to California was a sold out Slice of Improv workshop.  The workshop space was a flurry of creativity, fabric schnibbles, and lots of FUN!!  Here are just a few snapshots from around the classroom...

Slice of Improv is all about slicing, inserting, and lots of playing!

By working on one block at a time, we are able to really take in the process, evaluate our decisions, and use that experience to inform future block designs.  Speaking of blocks, check out some of the happy quilters below with their growing collection of improvisationally pieced blocks...

As the day progressed, each quilter's collection of pieced blocks kept growing and new designs began to emerge...

We even had one nearly completed quilt top, beautifully inspired by a birch tree forest!!

Many thanks to Aurifil for providing spools of 50 wt in a variety of neutral colors (perfect for piecing!!) and to OC Sewing and Vacuum for providing Viking Sapphire 965Q sewing machines!

Tomorrow brings a new day of Slice of Improv...I can't wait to see what exciting fabrics and designs will emerge with a new group of quilters!!
