Next summer, I am excited to teach as part of the 2020 Alaska Quilt Cruise for PARADISE: A fundraising cruise for Camp Fire Aid. This cruise is organized by World of Quilts Travel, who will be donating proceeds to the North North Valley Community Foundation in Chico, CA. They are one of the leading financial supporters to the communities in Butte County impacted by the fire’s devastation, providing funding and grants to other non-profits who provide direct help to those who’ve been affected.
The cruise will depart from Seattle, WA and run from July 5-12, 2020. This cruise will include the following ports of call:
Northern Lights
Create your own Northern Lights Wall Hanging to commemorate your Alaska Cruise adventure. These quilts will have the illusion of curves and transparency, all with straight line stitching. Best of all, we’ll assemble our projects using the quilt-as-you-go technique, so your project will be pieced and quilted at the same time!
Hand Dyed & Quilted Mandalas
Join me for a day of Mandalas, as we transform hand-dyed mandalas into stunning wholecloth quilts! We’ll warm up designing mandalas on paper and learn a variety of minimal marking motifs to incorporate into your very own original mandala design.
Alaskan Glaciers: Layers & Slices
Layer and slice your way to creating your own modern twist on the blue-tinged glaciers of Tracy Arm Fjord. We’ll warm up with the basic Slice and Insert improvisational piecing technique, and then introduce simple variations that lead to exciting design opportunities. Bring a variety of glacier inspired fabric scraps and get ready for lots of improvisational fun!!
Quilters and non-quilters are welcome to join the fun, so consider inviting your quilting pals, a companion, spouse, or your entire family!! There will be something fun for everyone!!
