Two of my gal pals joined me for DIY Lip Balm, offered through Santa Clara Library's Art After Dark program.

Ladies Night Out Fun!!! |
Turns out, lip balm is surprisingly easy to make and only requires a few simple ingredients: coconut oil, cocoa butter wafers, beeswax and some optional peppermint essential oils.
|
Basic Ingredients and Recipe |
Everyone took turns at the double boiler station where we combined and melted our ingredients together into a lip-smacking concoction. Our group was one of the first to go and thanks to our awesome teamwork, we were efficient in our task and no fingers were burned in the process!

DIY Lip Balm Fun |
While we waited for our lip balm to cool, we had fun using washi tape to decorate our little tin covers. There were so many different designs and colors available! Just like my quilts, I opted for bright colors and bold prints!!

Getting Crafty While Our Concoctions Cool |
Many thanks to Lily and Catherine for a super fun night out!! And special thanks to the Santa Clara Library staff for hosting this fun and free evening program!!

What a fun program!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I am very appreciative that our public library has a really vibrant program and offers so many adult-only programs: art after dark, technology trainings, small business/entrepreneurs workshops and more!
DeleteWow, Mel! You have so many talents and interests. My daughter would be right there playing with you if she lived closer. What's next, homemade floor polish?
ReplyDeleteThanks Joni...I enjoy mixing things up and trying new things. And this library offers all kinds of fun & crafty activities: fruit sushi, painted wine glasses, scratched cd art. This month's fun is etched glasswork, which I am disappointed to miss due to a teaching engagement! If your daughter is ever in town for an Art After Dark--let me know and she can join us!
Deletewhere have you been all my (quilting)life!?! You left a comment on my blog so I came over and wowzer. The posts that came up on the first page were just the kind I love reading. Color, exploration, varied, dogs, techniques, I'll have to sign up to read by email so I don't miss any more! Hee hee! LeeAnna at not afraid of color
ReplyDeleteThanks LeeAnna! I am glad you found me and liked what you saw! Lots more of color, exploration and my adorable pups coming up!!
DeleteWho knew it was that easy? And as always, you find the best projects all over town!
ReplyDeleteI've been very impressed with the City of Santa Clara library programs...especially the Art After Dark for adults only! The librarian hosts are a lot of fun and work out all the bugs in advance, making for a very relaxing and inspirational evening!! Hopefully you can join the fun soon!
