Adding More WOW! to Walking Foot WOW!

Walking Foot WOW! has been quite the hit among Northern California Quilt Guilds!!  Recently, I ran out of workshop samplers that I send out in advance to guilds to help promote workshop sign ups, so it was time for me to whip up a new one!  This new sampler is completely reversible:
  • Side A is a wholecloth sampler featuring some of the walking foot designs
  • Side B is a Mod Mola variation and includes a bright batik layered underneath the navy solid.  I love how the cutwork totally transforms the quilt top!!
Gorgeous Quilted Texture with a Colorful Transformation!

But wait!  Now there's even more WOW! factor packed into this workshop!  In the past couple of months, I've been stitching up 12 new sample blocks to demonstrate the versatility of the Walking Foot WOW! designs!!  2 of the samples are updated versions that are easier to stitch and 10 are brand new variations!!  With a total of 35 sample squares (several of which include multiple design variations) and 10 of my quilts that utlize one or more of the designs, everyone walks away with plenty of ideas to add beautiful, modern, quilted texture to their quilt tops!!
More WOW!!

This past week, these new samples made their debut to a sold out crowd at the Valley Heritage Quilt Guild, in King City, CA!!  What a great workshop venue filled with lots of light and ample space for each student to have their very own 8' table!!

Fun Variety!!

And the amazing range of techniques and textures continues...
Sew Much Fun!!

By the end of the day, there is so much fabulous texture to be seen and touched!!  The closing show and tell is so much fun, as everyone shares their favorite block or design.  It is always interesting to note which designs are class hits, as well as celebrate new takes on the designs!!  Finally it is time to wield our seam rippers and thread snips for a fun and colorful reveal!!  Here are a few previews of the mod mola makeovers!

Many thanks to Holly for being such a fabulous hostess and to the entire Valley Heritage Quilt Guild for their warm and enthusiastic welcome!

  1. As always, it's a joy to see your designs develop. Your guidance leads your students to confidence in their workmanship. I love watching this symbiosis.

    1. I actively encourage everyone to make the designs their own and to celebrate mistakes as those are sometimes the coolest designs!! I still have a few more sample designs to add to the mix but they may have to wait as I prepare for 2 new workshops!!
