Last weekend, I taught two workshops as part of
San Francisco Quilter's Guild's biennial Quilt Away Retreat.
On Friday, I taught Walking Foot WOW! It is always fun to see quilters embrace the various designs that can be achieved using their walking foot and a little blue painter's tape. Several quilters joined the Blue Painter's Tape Fan Club...Yay!!

Check out some of the fabulous textures they achieved!! This group really embraced the decorative stitches and had fun combining them with some of the other designs.

But wait, there's more: Mola reveals, lines, stars, spirals and a spider!

Say WOW!! |
What a fun day, made even more special with two more teaching highlights:
Sara J was in a previous Walking Foot WOW! workshop offered through
Mt. Tam Quilt Guild and brought her finished sampler to the retreat. She turned her sampler into a sewing machine cover! What a brilliant idea for keeping a design reference nearby while also taking care of her sewing machine! Thank you Sara for sharing!!

Sara's Walking Foot WIN!! |
And I had my first teacher's pet this weekend. Yes, I know teacher's aren't supposed to play favorites, but this was a real teacher's pet. Meet Galadriel (named after the royal elf character in The Lord of the Rings), a 20+ year old
Speckled Kingsnake who hung out in the corner of our classroom. She was rather active on the first day, greeting those who appraoched her tank. One of the staff members stopped by to check on her, shared her story and prepared her lunchtime meal, which was thankfully served while we were out for lunch.
