After my first Slice of Improv workshop sold out, Road to California added a second workshop offering--which came very close to filling (only one vacancy!) I was delighted to see so much interest in improvisational piecing!!
Over the course of the second workshop, participants had a variety of options with the slice and insert technique...
Slice, Sew and Lots of Smiles |
As the workshop progressed, an exciting assortment of improvisationally pieced blocks started to emerge: curves, abstract peace signs, Pi symbols, Xs, and Wedgies.
Choose Your Own Adventure |
Some quilters opted to use a design wall to arrange their blocks, while others opted to work on the floor...
Creating Designs on the Wall and on the Floor |
Groupings of blocks were to be spotted all round the classroom, some even spelling out the maker's name!!
X Marks the Spot and Say My Name! |
No matter how you slice it, there was lots of fun to be had by all!!
Slice of Improv Round 2 Crew! |
Many thanks to Aurifil for providing spools of neutral 50wt piecing thread and to OC Sewing and Vaccuum for providing Viking sewing machines for this fun workshop!!
