After my visit with the Lincoln Quilters Guild, I was off to Omaha to meet up with the
Omaha Quilter's Guild. First up was a sold out Walking Foot WOW workshop!

Omaha Walking Foot Wonders! |
Spirits were high, despite the very rainy weather outside and inside the workshop space. Yes, it was raining so hard out, that the workshop's venue sprung a bit of a leak in the ceiling!! A small bucket was in place to catch the initial water drops, but soon had to be replaced by a larger garbage can as the heavy rainfall created a steady trickle that amounted to several gallons over the course of the day. Luckily the rain slowed as the workshop came to a close and it was time to head out to dinner, followed by the evening guild meeting!
The next morning brought more rain and warmer temperatures, causing the snow to melt and add to the wet morning. We sought refuge from the rain by visiting the
Lauritzen Gardens: Omaha's Botanical Gardens.

Rainforest Escape From the Rain |
We were transported to prehistoric times, as there were dinosaur sculptures on display as part of the
Dinosaur Uproar exhibit! While we were unsuccessful finding all the items on the Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt (tiny Spike the Stegosaurus and a can of Barbosol eluded us), we did discover a brilliant display of color, lines, and textures all around the plant exhibits.

Many thanks to my fabulous host, Janelle, for the warm Omaha welcome, along with the entire
Omaha Quilter's Guild.
As my visit was coming to a close, there were a number of Flood Warnings and Watches in effect. Upon my return to San Jose, I have been closely monitoring the news reporting on the
extensive flooding that has impacted much of Nebraska. I sincerely hope everyone is staying safe and for a quick recovery of the communities that have suffered considerable damage from the flooding waters.
