Quilting in the Garden 2019

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending Alden Lane Nursery's annual Quilting in the Garden, in Livermore, CA. There were lots of quilts hanging from the trees and blowing in the breeze.  I especially enjoyed the "Under the Influence of Rosalie Dace" exhibit featuring quilts made by the Out of the Box Quilters after attending a workshop taught by Rosalie.

While exploring the nursery, I found myself drawn to a variety of textures: spikey and smooth succulents, delicate leaves, and thick tree bark.

More textures were discovered in the pottery section.

Of course, there was plenty of Garden Art on display: Celestial Suns, a family of Rock Owls, Spirals, and an enormous Zipper!

Each year, I keep an eye out for the Alden Lane cow.  This year she was hanging out near Jennifer Sampou's booth, modeling one of her quilts made from her new Sky fabric collection.  These luscious digitally printed ombres will be available in November 2019 and I may just have to add a few to my ombre stash!
Moooore Gorgeous Ombres to Add to My Stash

While I wasn't able to purchase any of the Sky ombres, I did manage to stock up on a few new purchases.  Recently I borrowed a Quilters Select Non Slip 6"x24" ruler from a friend and was impressed by the non-slip coating and how the ruler didn't budge, even when cutting long strips!  Thankfully Alex Anderson had a variety of the Quilters Select Non Slip rulers on sale at her booth, so I picked up my favorite sizes for my studio: 6"x24", 6"x12" and 6.5"x6.5". And I couldn't resist the bundles of Oakshott Fabrics, one of which I just had to rescue!!  Now when will I get the courage to cut into this precious bundle using my new rulers?!?
