4th of July Finish: Fireworks!

Here is a fun new finish to kickstart the 4th of July holiday celebration!  It is a patriotic remake of my Mod Mandala design featuring a blue background and bias tape made from a white on white print, as well as a red & white striped print.
Made in America:  Mod Mandala Quilt Top
Once my quilt top was complete, it was time to audition quilting designs to fill in all that wonderful negative space.  Keeping with the patriotic theme, I incorporated motifs featuring stars & stripes.  Using a clear acryllic plastic and some dry erase markers allowed me to experiment with different scales, shapes as well as figure out the travel path to travel around the mandala with minimal stops/starts or even traveling!
Stars & Stripes Forever
Aurifil White (2024) in 50 weight was used for all of the quilting.  It was bold enough for my designs to pop, while also being thin enough to disguise areas where I needed to travel back over previous lines of stitching.
Aurifil Adding Sparkle & Texture
A mottled blue batik was used for the quilt back, allowing the quilting to really take center stage!
Red, White & Blue Quilt Back
As I was working on this quilt, I could overhear several of my neighbors setting off fireworks, providing inspiration for the quilt title.
"Fireworks" finishes 22" x 22"
Fireworks will be visiting Northern California Quilt Council's Meet the Teacher this coming July 8th, where I will be presenting my new line up of workshops, including Mod Mandalas!!

Wishing you and your family a very happy and safe 4th of July!!
